Police are appealing for the owner of a camera found in Rubery to come forward.
The digital camera was handed in to Rubery Police Station on September 9th after being found in Hillview Road, and police believe it may have been dropped after a burglary - possibly one which happened over the border in the West Midlands.
The Olympus Camedia D-435 5.1 mega pixel digital camera is in a black Lowepro fabric camera case.
There are two videos and 113 photos on the memory card, showing a family including two boys growing up over several years, and adults who are probably parents and grandparents.
In the most recent photos the boys are aged about 15 or 16 and about 13.
The older one has very blond hair and the younger one has short brown hair.
The photos include shots of the younger boy blowing out candles on his 12th and 13th birthday cakes.
In some pictures the boys are pictured in wetsuits leaning on surfboards outside a static caravan.
Other photos show a family skiing holiday and a trip to the Eden Project in Cornwall.
A brindle-coloured Staffordshire bull terrier sitting on a brown leather chair is in other pictures.
In the background on some of the pictures is a blue or grey Vauxhall Astra or Vauxhall Corsa car, with the partial registration number KD06 O. It is not possible to see the last couple of letters.
PC Jayne Willetts of Rubery Police said: "We have tried to trace the owner of the camera by contacting the registered keepers of several vehicles like this, but so far have drawn a blank.
"The photos are obviously of sentimental value, and are an irreplaceable record of this family's holidays and birthdays, and we would very much like to return the camera to its owners.
"This is also a good opportunity to remind people of the importance of marking cameras and other valuables with SmartWater, a colourless liquid that contains a chemical marker similar to DNA, which helps both prevent and detect crime and enables the police to return stolen property to its owner."
SmartWater packs are available at the discounted rate of £15 through Neighbourhood Watch schemes.
Existing Neighbourhood Watch members can order a pack by calling Mel Clarke on 01527 586253 and he can also be contacted by anyone considering joining Neighbourhood Watch or starting a new group.
Anyone who thinks the camera may be theirs is asked to contact the front counter at Rubery Police Station on 0300 333 3000.
