A teenager has been left devastated after thieves broke into a house and stole her pet Chihuahua worth thousands of pounds.
Chloe Farrant, 17, had left Charlie for an hour when she went to the park and came back to find him gone. The thief had forced open a kitchen window and took the eight-week-old dog which is valued at £3,000 – but nothing else.
She had left Charlie at her cousin's house in Farmside Gardens, Hilsea, at about 4pm on Friday. She returned an hour later but he had gone.
PC Michael Emery said "I would ask anyone who has seen or been offered a Chihuahua for sale in the last few days to contact police. It may be that whoever has taken the dog knew its value and could try and sell it on."
