E Withers violin stolen: Didsbury

A cherished violin by E Withers has Stolen from house in Didsbury, Manchester.

The instrument has a red-brown varnish finish. One piece back. Rosewood & gold pegs. Worn wood at waist on bow hand side by E string (slightly scuffed/chipped). Fingerboard requires 'shooting'. A thin wedge of wood has been let in along neck & fingerboard to raise & angle fingerboard slightly.

The bridge is stamped J & A Beare. These is a black mark on the ribs on the back.

The violin is labelled E Withers, Wardour St, London.

It was in a black oblong Negri violin case. With screwed on integrated rubberised waterproof cover and music compartment. It had two shoulder straps with silver clasps. There is a gold plate inside the lid. The lining is dark grey velvet. There is space for the violin, 4 bows and string tube.
