Two mountain bikes belonging to the Statham family, who were tragically killed on the M6 in Cheshire in October, have been stolen from the family home in Llandudno.
During the early hours of this morning, (Friday 7th November), the two mountain bikes, which belonged to 13-year-old Reece and nine-year-old Jay, were stolen from the back garden at the address on Clifton Road.
Both bikes were Apollo Creed mountain bikes but, as yet, police have no detailed description.
A mountain bike has this morning been recovered nearby and will be subject to forensic examination to establish if it is one of the stolen bikes.
Angela Hagans, the sister of Michelle Statham said:
"The people of Llandudno have been so helpful and compassionate towards us but we are really disappointed and heartbroken that someone has taken these bikes.
"Anyone who can help the police with their investigation should contact them immediately."
PC Manus Sheridan said:
"I am urging anyone who may have witnessed any suspicious behaviour in the vicinity of Clifton Road, or anyone who may have information, to contact us.
"I am disgusted that this has happened, and will endeavour to bring the person, or persons, responsible to justice."
House to house enquiries are being carried out in the area and anyone with information is asked to contact PC 2458 Sheridan at Llandudno Police Station on 0845 607 1001 (Welsh line) 0845 607 1002 (English line) or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
