Piglets killed in Sheffield

A cash reward has been offered for information about a 'sickening' attack on a litter of piglets at a popular farm and visitor centre in Sheffield. Thirteen piglets were discovered missing from their sty when members of staff arrived for work at Heeley City Farm on 10 August.

Body parts from three piglets were found scattered around the farmyard. The other piglets are still missing. A £2,500 reward has now been offered to help catch those responsible.

Insp Tim Ireland, from South Yorkshire Police, said "This senseless act of cruelty has left the staff at the farm very upset and shocked. We are treating this very seriously and doing everything possible to trace those responsible for this despicable behaviour.

At the time of the incident farm spokeswoman Jill Brookes said "It looked like it had been kicked to death. It's sickening."
