A family is appealing for the safe return of a painting of their grandmother that was stolen during a burglary.
The painting - of only sentimental value - was taken during the incident at an address in Tavern Orchard, Warndon Villages, Worcester, between October 17 and 23.
It was painted in 1942 and depicts a woman in a white wedding dress sitting in front of a blue background. She is holding purple and white flowers in one hand and a pearl necklace in the other. The work is signed V.Settlemore in red paint.
PC Jon Griffith, investigating, said:
"The family is very upset as the grandmother is now in her 90s and only recently gave them the painting.
"It has only sentimental value and is worthless to anyone else. Although the family has had a number of items stolen - including a car - the safe return of the painting is what means the most to them."
A blue Peugeot 206 - registration VK03WH - worth £4,000 was also stolen after keys were taken from the house along with an ipod classic worth £200 and jewellery worth £200.
An antique silver teapot worth £400 and a £400 china Limoge Haviland white teapot with pink flowers were also taken from the house.
Anyone who knows the whereabouts of any of the items, saw anything suspicious in the area between the times given or is offered any of the items for sale - particularly the painting - is urged to contact police.
They can call 08457 444 888, quoting 741/S/231008, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
