Norfolk Constabulary is reminding the public of a major exhibition of jewellery taking place in Weeting tomorrow (24/05/2008).
More than 200 items of jewellery are going on display as officers bid to identify a hoard of items which have been recovered following police raids in recent months.
The raids have been carried out at addresses in Norfolk and Cambridgeshire over the last ten months in connection with armed robberies and aggravated burglaries across West Norfolk and the Fens between August last year and February this year. The recovered jewellery includes gold watches, coins, sovereigns, rings, necklaces, earrings, bracelets and brooches.
Det Sgt Andy Lovick, of the constabulary’s Major Investigation Team (MIT) said "We are keen to identify as much of this property as possible. We have already contacted a large number of burglary victims personally by letter and invited them to attend this exhibition.
"But we would also encourage anyone else who may have had items of jewellery stolen from them over the last ten months, and has not for whatever reason reported the crime, to come along and see if they can identify their property."
The exhibition is due to take place between 10.30am and 4.30pm on Saturday, May 24, at the Weeting Bowls Club in Lynn Road.
Members of the public planning to attend are advised to bring identification with them and if possible any receipts or photos they may have relating to their property.
Representatives from Victim Support will be on hand to offer assistance to anyone wanting support. Detectives from both Downham Market CID and the MIT will be in attendance to deal with any new crime reports and officers from the local Safer Neighbourhood Team will also be present.
Anyone with further queries about this event should contact Det Con Craig Leeder of the MIT on 0845 4564567.
