Reward to catch barn arsonists: Hawthorn, Corsham

Fire swept through the barn at Clouds Farm, Hawthorn, near Corsham, at 5am on October 9th and destroyed hundreds of tons of hay and straw as well as farm machinery valued at many of thousands of pounds.

The owners of the property, brothers Clive and Frank Freeman, have been left devasted by the arson attack.

A spokesman for Wiltshire Police said:

"The owners are distraught as the fire not only damaged the barn itself and the machinery inside but the hay and straw which acts as winter feed for their animals as well as for horses in the local area.

"They are particularly upset that someone has targeted them in this manner."

The owners are offering a £10,000 reward for information leading to the conviction of the arsonists.

Two people have been arrested and questioned by Police in relation to this incident and have since been released on Police Bail pending further enquiries.

Clive Freeman said:

"We have issued a £10,000 reward to anybody who can provide information that will lead to a conviction of the culprits because we want some justice.

"Why should these people get away with it? I think its wrong that people can come in and burn our straw and hay that we have worked so hard for.

"I will feel better if the people who were responsible are caught and hopefully the reward will bring people forward with information."

Anone with information is urged to contact DC Melanie Carosi of Wiltshire Police on 0845 408 7000 ext 722585 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
