Somerton Neighbourhood Inspector Andy Pritchard said: "It is highly unusual to see this number of thefts of tractors in our area. I would urge farmers to make sure their equipment is secured when not in use, especially if it has recently been offered for sale, as at least one of these vehicles was. I would also recommend that equipment is marked with their post-code and keep a note of serial numbers."
Insp Pritchard urged rural residents to keep an eye out for anyone behaving suspiciously around farms, outbuildings, and farm machinery. "If you spot anyone behaving suspiciously, make a note of any vehicle numbers and call police on 0845 456 7000" he said.
Anyone with any information about who is responsible for the thefts can call police on 0845 456 7000 or contact the independent Crimestoppers charity anonymously on 0800 555 111. Calls to Crimestoppers could lead to a reward.
