Statue of horse and foal stolen: Rutland

Unique bronze statue stolen from house in Rutland. Leicestershire Police have issued a picture of a stolen bronze statue in the hope it will help indentify the people responsible for a burglary at a home in North Luffenham.

The burglary happened between 1am and 7am on December 20, 2007 at a home on Glebe Road. The picture shows a picture of a unique bronze horse and foal valued at around £2,000. It was one of a number of items taken by the thieves in the burglary.

Also taken was a silver Acer laptop, a digital cameral in black leather case and a Nokia mobile phone.

PC Kathryn Atkinson, who is investigating the burglary, said: "We're asking people to take a close look at the statue. Do you recognise it? Have you seen it anywhere recently, maybe in someone's home?

"Perhaps you're a dealer, has someone approached you to buy a similar statue? Do you work in the scrap metal trade, has anyone tried to weigh a similar item in at all?

"It's a fairly unique handmade bronze so if you have seen something similar we'd be keen to hear from you. If we can locate the horse and foal then it will not only delight the owner but may give us vital clues as who is responsible for the burglary."

Anyone with any information is asked to contact PC 4387 Kathryn Atkinson from Rutland LPU on Leicester 0116 222 2222, follow the instructions to leave a message for an officer and when prompted key in his identification number 4387.

Alternatively, people can call Crimestoppers free* and anonymously on 0800 555 111.
