- Deer shot on National Trust property: Belton House, Belton
Police are appealing for information after a deer was shot with a high-powered rifle.
This incident took place sometime overnight on Tuesday January 6/Wednesday January 7 at Belton House, Belton.
A deer was found shot by a high-powered rifle. It had been left where it fell.

- Knife-point robbery on train: South East London
British Transport Police have released CCTV as part of an ongoing investigation into a knifepoint robbery on a train in south-east London.
BTP Robbery Squad PC Dan Rolfe said the incident happened on a train travelling from Crofton Park Railway Station to Catford Railway Station on November 24.
"It would appear the 39-year-old male victim was approached by two black men at around 10.30pm.
- Man shot: Drynam Drive, Kinsealy
Gardai in Malahide, Dublin are investigating the circumstances surrounding shots fired in a house in Drynam Drive, Kinsealy, Dublin at approximately 22.10 hours last night 7th January, 2009.
A 29 year old male was shot a number of times and was removed from the scene by ambulance to Beaumont Hospital. His condition is not considered life threatening.
The scene is currently being technically examined this morning.
- Salford shooting: Amersham Street, Pendleton
Police were called to Amersham Street, Pendleton, at 6.30pm on Saturday 20 December 2008, to a report that a man had been shot in the leg.
The 39-year-old was taken to hospital, where he remains in a stable condition. His injuries are not believed to be life threatening.
A 23-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of section 18 wounding and is currently in police custody.
- NEWS ITEM - Shooting Incident: Summerhill, Dublin 2
Gardai are investigating a suspected shooting incident at Summerhill in Dublin at 8.40 p.m on the 7th of January 2009.
Gardai were called to the scene following a report of a traffic collision and found two men injured in a car.
The men, who are in their late twenties and early thirties were taken by ambulance to St James's and the Mater Hospitals.
The injured man who was taken to The Mater was subsequently pronounced dead.
- Cat shot with air rifle loses leg: Macduff
Grampian Police are investigating a Cat being shot with an Air Rifle in Macduff.
The incident occurred around midday on Saturday 3 January 2009 near Crook O' Ness, Macduff
As a result of the incident, Willow the Cat underwent surgery to amputate her front leg
Grampian Police are keen to trace any one in the vicinity who witnessed the incident.
- Two armed men discovered in loft space: Hereford Road, Hindley
At 1.20am on Sunday 4 January 2009, police went into the house on Hereford Road, Hindley.
Officers discovered two men in the loft space. One man was subdued with a Taser to allow officers to detain him in a safe and controlled manner.
They were taken to hospital for treatment to minor injuries.

- Girl shot in face in street robbery: Bolton
A 14-year-old girl is recovering after being shot in the face with a ball bearing gun.
Police were called at 8.47pm on Friday 2 January 2009 to Stanmore Drive, Bolton, following reports a girl had been assaulted.
Police found the girl with injuries to her face, believed to have been caused by a ball-bearing gun and a metal pole.
She was taken to hospital for treatment to her injuries, which are not described as life threatening and she has undergone surgery to remove a pellet from her chin.
- Shooting Incident: John William Street, Huddersfield
Police are appealing for witnesses following a shooting incident which occurred around 2:45am outside a takeaway on John William Street in Huddersfield during the early hours of Saturday morning. (20 December 2008)
A 47 year old woman and a 22 year old man were found at the scene with gunshot wounds.
Both were taken to hospital, the woman was later released but the man remains in hospital.
His injuries are not considered life threatening and he is currently in a comfortable condition.
- Man stabbed in serious assault: Georges Quay, Dublin
Gardai at Pearse Street are investigating a serious assault which occured at Georges Quay/Tara St junction, near the entrance to Tara Street Dart Station, at about 11.50am this morning on the 30th December, 2008.
The injured man aged 25 years received a number of stab wounds to the upper body and is currently in St James Hospital. His injuries are not life threatening.
- Gun fired during street robbery: Greenhill Road, Crumpsall
At about 3am on Monday 29 December 2008, two men aged in their 20s were in a Seat Leon on Greenhill Road, when they were approached by a man armed with a gun.
The offender threatened the men and fired a shot in to the ground. He escaped down Waterloo Road with two mobile phones and some cash.
The offender is described as:
- Man shot in chest: South Hill Street, Glodwick
A man is being treated in hospital after being shot in an Oldham street.
Detectives are appealing for witnesses to the attack, which took place at 11pm on Monday 29 December 2008, on South Hill Street, Glodwick.
A 39-year-old man was taken to hospital suffering from a gunshot wound to his chest.
His injuries are not thought to be life threatening.
A car was seen driving away from the scene of the shooting.
- NEWS ITEM - Drugs and gun found in Police raid: Limerston Drive, Newton Heath
A gun and live ammunition were discovered when officers swooped on a house in north Manchester.
Acting on intelligence, police searched a house on Limerston Drive in Newton Heath, at about 12.45pm on Monday 29 December 2008.
Officers discovered a boiler room that was being used to cultivate a large cannabis plant - about 5ft 7in tall - and also a smaller cannabis plant.
- Teenager stabbed in attempted street robbery: Healdswood Street, Skegby
An 18 year old man is currently being treated in hospital after being stabbed during an attempted robbery in Skegby.
The incident happened at approximately 6pm on Saturday 20 December 2008 at the junction of Healdswood Street and Mansfield Road, Skegby.
The offender approached the 18-year-old victim and a struggle ensued, during which the victim was stabbed.
He is currently receiving treatment in hospital for his injuries, which are described as non-life threatening.
- Teenager stabbed in back: Woodside View, Poleglass
Police are appealing for information after a teenager was stabbed in the Poleglass area during the early hours of Saturday 20 December.
It is understood the 17 year old was attacked by a number of other males in the Woodside View area shortly before 2.30am.
He sustained a single stab wound to the back . The victim has been taken to hospital however his injuries were not believed to be life threatening.
