- Attempted armed robbery: Aldingham
Police are appealing for information following an attempted armed robbery yesterday evening at a cottage on the A5087 coastal road near Aldingham, Ulverston.
At approximately 7.35pm yesterday, Monday 5 January, two offenders approached a 64-yr-old man outside his home, threatening him with a machete and hammer.
Thankfully the victim received no significant injuries. The 64-yr-old man managed to get away from the offenders, who then made off from the scene. The motives for the threats are unknown.
- Attempted armed robbery at store: Gladeside Road, Benchill
A man terrified staff at a south Manchester shop by demanding cash at gunpoint.
The gunman walked into the Gladeside Mini-Market store onc, and pointed the weapon at the shop assistant, demanding cash.
Frightened, the assistant crouched behind the counter for safety and the gunman fled empty-handed.
- Householder confronts intruder: Yew Tree Avenue, Belbroughton
Police are appealing for witnesses after a householder confronted an intruder at a house in Belbroughton, near Stourbridge.
The householder, a man in his 40s, was in the living room when a man walked in through the front door, which was closed but not locked, shone a torch in his eyes, and demanded money.
The householder challenged him, and he ran off empty handed.
It happened in Yew Tree Avenue at about 11pm on Friday 2nd January.
- Assault with intent to rob: Hamilton West Station
British Transport Police is appealing for information following an incident in which a 22-year-old man was threatened by two male youths at Hamilton West station last night, Tuesday 30 December 2008.
Around 22.00 hours the 22-year-old victim, from Blantyre, was approached by the two youths at Hamilton West station and was engaged in conversation by them.
The man was then threatened by one of the youths - who is believed to have been in possession of a knife.
- Attempted armed robbery at store: Antelope Walk
A 49-year-old store manager from Dorchester received minor injuries as a result of the offence.
The incident, in which a man holding a knife forced his way into a shop, happened in the Body Shop store on Antelope Walk at around 5.40pm on Wednesday, 24 December 2008.
Staff were closing the shop when a man - who had waited outside the store for some time - forced his way through the front door.
Noticing that the man was carrying a knife, the store manager screamed and hit the fire alarm.
- Information sought: Attempted armed robbery and abduction: Luton
The first happened in Lindsey Road at midnight when a 20-year-old man was bundled in to his own car, a black VW Golf, and driven around the town by four men before being left in Links Way. It is believed the offenders left the scene in a car, believed to be a black Peugeot 307.
- Attempted robbery Gala Bingo: Stonebridge Lane, Farnley
North West Leeds police are appealing for information following an attempted robbery of a cash collection at a bingo hall in Farnley.
At about 11.30am yesterday (22/12) a security guard was collecting cash from Gala Bingo, in Stonebridge Lane, Farnley.
As he was returning to his van a car, believed to have been a black Audi convertible with a partial registration YK05, pulled into the car park and a man, who was carrying some sort of weapon in his hand, got out and ran towards the guard.
- Failed armed robbery at bookies: Peppard Road, Caversham
Police are appealing for witnesses to an attempted robbery at a betting shop in Caversham.
The incident happened at Corals, Peppard Road, at around 9.20pm on Saturday (20/12).
Two men entered the shop, pushed a customer to the floor and then went to the betting desk where they threatened a member of staff, a 42-year-old woman, with what is believed to be a handgun.
However, the woman managed to escape out of the rear door and the offenders left empty handed.
- Woman fights off 'would be' bag thief: Paisley Road West
Strathclyde Police is appealing for information after an attempted robbery on Paisley Road West on Saturday 27 December 2008.
Around 1630 hours, a 69 year-old woman was walking home alone on Paisley Road West, just outside the Argosy Bar near to Hillington Road South, when she was approached by a man who attempted to steal her handbag.
Following a struggle, the woman managed to break free and the suspect made off in the direction of Hillington Road South empty handed.
- Boys on bikes attempt robbery on young mother and child: Retford Train Station
On Thursday 11 December at around 2pm an attempted robbery took place in the subway connecting Retford Train Station and Tunnel Road in Ordsall.
The female victim had a pushchair and a young child with her. A man on a pushbike approached her who was joined shortly afterwards by a second man on a pushbike.
Both men left the subway in the direction of the train station.
The first man is described as:
- Teenager stabbed in attempted street robbery: Healdswood Street, Skegby
An 18 year old man is currently being treated in hospital after being stabbed during an attempted robbery in Skegby.
The incident happened at approximately 6pm on Saturday 20 December 2008 at the junction of Healdswood Street and Mansfield Road, Skegby.
The offender approached the 18-year-old victim and a struggle ensued, during which the victim was stabbed.
He is currently receiving treatment in hospital for his injuries, which are described as non-life threatening.
- Assault and attempted robbery: Meols
The incident occurred around 9.55pm on Wednesday 3 December on the 21:37 Liverpool to West Kirby service.
A man who boarded the train at Moreton threatened a male passenger with violence and demanded money from him.
When the train pulled into Meols, the offender assaulted the victim and left the train before threatening another male outside the train on the stairway and overpass on the station.

- Attempted armed street robbery: Friendly Street
Detectives in Musgrave Street are appealing for information following an attempted armed robbery in Friendly Street in south Belfast on Friday 12 December.
Shortly after 1.30pm, a man in his 40's was walking along Friendly Street when three males, one of who was armed with a knife, approached him.
The males demanded money from the victim and a struggle ensued. The victim sustained minor cuts to his chest and a cut to his head. The culprits fled empty handed.
- Man mugged by cyclist with spray: Bedale market place
Police in Bedale are appealing for witnesses following an attempted robbery in the town early this morning (Friday 19 December).
At around 7:20am, a man in his early sixties was withdrawing cash from the HSBC cash point in Bedale market place.
He was approached by a youth riding a bicycle who rode into him and then squirted liquid into his eyes before attempting to steal cash from him.
The youth then rode off in the direction of South End. Police are appealing for any witnesses to the incident or anyone who can help identify the youth.
- Attempted robbery of cash machine at garage: Ruabon Service Station
An appeal for witnesses and information is being made following an attack on a cash machine at a roadside garage near Wrexham.
Sometime before 2.30am this morning (Tuesday, December 22), an offender or offenders attempted to gain access to the contents of a cash machine at the Ruabon Service Station on the A483.
The offender / offenders also attempted to set the machine on fire but escaped empty handed.
Police were alerted to the incident at 2.31am and the Fire and Rescue Service were also called to the scene.
