  • Sound equipment taken in burglary: Claremont Pier, Lowestoft

    Sound equipment was stolen from premises at the Claremont Pier around 3.50am - 4am on Wednesday 24 December.

    The equipment including two CD players, a mixer, headphones and a smoke machine were taken after someone broke in.

    £3,000 guitar collection stolen: Tipton Road, Sedgley

    Police are appealing for information following a burglary at an address in Tipton Road, Sedgley on Wednesday 10 December between 12.00noon and 4.50pm.

    Four electric guitars were stolen from the address and as well as one acoustic guitar with a collective value of over £3,000.

    A drum kit worth thousands of pounds was stolen from a car in Manchester.

    The vehicle, which was parked secure and unattended on Harrison Street, Ardwick, was broken into sometime between 9 October 2008 and 16 October 2008.

    The victim had built up the drum kit over the past four years and was currently a member of two bands; Accountable for Non (based in Stoke) and Manchester jazz band, Band on the Wall.

    Neighbourhood Police Constable Natalie Barlow, based at Grey Mare Lane, said:

  • Acoustic guitar taken in burglary: Bouverie Walk, Northampton

    A man broke into a flat in Bouverie Walk, Northampton, and stole an acoustic guitar on Saturday afternoon.

    Sometime between 1.40pm and 2.10pm the man entered the ptoperty and took the blue guitar before leaving on foot and heading in the direction of the Jekyll and Hyde public house on the Wellingborough Road. The guitar was not in a case.

    Officers would like to speak to anyone who may have witnessed this incident or who may have any information regarding it.

  • Theft of guitar from Loft Bistro: Kinloss, Forres

    Grampian Police are investigating a theft in the Kinloss area of Moray.

    The incident occurred between 11.30PM Saturday 8 November 2008 and 7.30 PM hours on Tuesday 11 November 2008, at The Loft, East Grange of Kinloss

    As a result of the incident, an Epiphone electric guitar valued at a middle three figure sum was stolen.

    Police are warning guitar fans to be wary of offers of instruments after six were taken from an address in the Droitwich area.

    A police spokesman said:

    "It is difficult to predict just when and where these items will reappear again.

    "If anyone is offered a guitar from an unfamiliar source, they should be extremely wary and - ideally - call the police as soon as possible."

    Thousands of pounds worth of musical and electrical equipment have been stolen from a church.

    Police in Manchester city centre are appealing for witnesses following the burglary, which took place overnight on Thursday 23 October 2008 at the Methodist Central Hall in Oldham Street.

    R.E.M. Signature Guitar Stolen Finnair Stadium in Helsinki, Finland, reward offered

    R.E.M. has been hit by the stolen equipment epidemic, as Peter Buck's signature guitar was taken from the stage following a gig in Helsinki, Finland.

    The band is asking for information about the whereabouts and offering a reward for the black Rickenbacker 360 guitar, which Buck has used periodically since the band's debut Chronic Town EP.
