Hertfordshire Police isĀ appealing for witnesses and information after a beige lurcher dog was stolen from outside a shop in Little Berkhampstead village on Monday November 17.
It happened at about 1.15pm on Church Road in the village, near Hertford.
The dog's owner, a 21-year-old woman from Hatfield, left the 8-month-old dog tied up outside the village shop.
But, when she returned, the dog had gone.
PC Roy Benney, investigating, said:
"I am appealing for anyone who knows where the dog might be or who has taken her to let me know.
"She is a much loved pet and her owner would very much like her back."
He added:
"A witness saw a maroon Landrover pulling away from the scene at speed and driving northwards.
"If anyone can help us identify the driver, we would very much like to speak to them."
Anyone with any information on this crime should ring PC Benney via the non-emergency number 0845 33 00 222. Alternatively, call Crimestoppers (an independent charity) anonymously on 0800 555111
