Thomas Potter, missing: Trimdon Grange

Police in Newton Ayclliffe have today renewed their appeal for information regarding the whereabouts of a man missing from a home in Trimdon Grange since July 29.

Thomas Potter, aged 58, is a long-term resident of the home but was last seen when he visited a drop-in centre in Spennymoor around lunchtime on Tuesday, 29th July. Since then there have been no sightings of him, nor any other communication, and police and staff at the home are becoming concerned for his well-being. His brother, who lives in Pelton has also had no word from him.

Mr Potter has mental health issues for which he takes medication, as well as type 2 diabetes; he is not thought to have taken any medication with him. He has been missing from the home previously, on one occasion using his bus pass to go travelling around the county for a few days.

He is 5` 10" tall, of average build, with cropped, grey hair. He has blue eyes and at the time he went missing had a few days stubble which may now have grown into a full beard. When last seen he was wearing a ribbed, navy blue cardigan over a blue t-shirt, he was also sporting a camouflage-style baseball cap.

"Mr Potter has now been missing for more than two weeks and as time goes by we are becoming increasingly fearful regarding his well-being. It is possible he has travelled out of County Durham and we would urge anyone who has any knowledge of his whereabouts to contact us immediately. As far as we are aware he does not have the medication he needs with him and we have significant concerns for his welfare, " said PC John Donoghue.

Anyone with information on Thomas Potter's whereabouts is asked to ring Newton Aycliffe police on 0345 6060 365.
