Two cars were stolen off a driveway in Harbour Close, Bidford on Avon after a car key burglary that occurred between 11pm on Sunday 11 November and 7am on Monday 10 November.

It is believed the offenders used a device to reach through the letterbox and grabbed the keys that were approximately 6 feet away on top of a radiator in the hallway.

They then stole a blue Land Rover Freelander estate (registration number VK07 LOA) and a red VW Golf (registration VE54 MYM) from the driveway.

It is believed the burglars opened a neighbours side gate and may have gone into his back garden before they stole the keys.

DS Martyn Stephens said:

"To reduce the risk of night-time car key burglaries, as well as locking windows and doors, conceal your keys so they are not in view through windows or by pushing open a letterbox.

"If at all possible park cars in a secure garage over night and consider investing in a good quality home security system - police crime prevention officers can offer advice.

"Lock side gates so potential burglars cannot walk around the back of your property where they will be out of sight of passers by.

"Also consider installing a satellite tracking system in high value cars so that stolen cars can be more easily traced."
